10 yo F with swelling and tenderness to the nose after MVC
Major Findings
- Acute displaced right nasal bone fracture with surrounding soft tissue injury
- Subtle nondisplaced anterior nasal septal fracture
- Swelling along septum and anterior nasal cavity
- Acute displaced right nasal bone fracture with surrounding soft tissue injury
- Subtle nondisplaced anterior nasal septal fracture
- Swelling along septum and anterior nasal cavity
Teaching Points
With nasal trauma, if there is swelling or fullness of the nasal septum, raise the possibility of nasal septal hematoma (a clinical diagnosis).
If left undrained, a nasal septal hematoma can lead to abscess or chronic nasal deformity.
