4 yo M with neck pain
Major Findings
- Right tonsillitis without abscess
- Narrowing of the oral airway
Teaching Points
Look for asymmetry in the oropharynx. The right tonsil is enlarged and hyperenhancing with a striped pattern, consistent with tonsillitis.
Pertinent negative: In this case there is no drainable abscess, which would be a low density fluid collection with peripheral enhancement.
