5 yo M unrestrained backseat passenger in high speed MVC
Major Findings
- Basion-dens widening (normal 3.6-11.0 mm)
- Atlanto-occipital widening (normal 0.4-3.3 mm)
- Atlanto-dental widening (normal 0.4-3.2 mm)
- Subtle epidural hemorrhage
- Prominent retropharyngeal fluid
Teaching Points
Narrow windowing can help bring out epidural hemorrhage.
