Major Findings / Diagnosis
- Multiple skull-base fractures, including a clival fracture that extends through the left carotid canal
- Symmetric widening of the atlanto-axial intervals
- Epidural hemorrhage at the level of C1-C2
Teaching Points
Here is a helpful table by Bertozzi et al for normal pediatric craniocervical junction measurements (full article here).
With these findings of craniocervical injury, recommend a MRI to evaluate for spinal cord injury and MRA to look for vascular injury.
